Model
AL Pot Furnaces
Electrically
Heated "Workhorse" for Industrial Applications
Model AL Furnaces using
molten salt or lead are ideal for many applications. Tools and
parts heat quickly in the liquid bath making possible unexpectedly
high rates of production from these small furnaces.
The surface protection provided by the salts and lead during the heat treatment
results in consistent high quality. Selective heating of many parts can be done
by partial immersion. Surface hardening treatments are easily accomplished in
this simple inexpensive equipment.
Typical tool room applications within the 1650°F temperature range include
stress relieving, hardening, tempering, austempering, martempering, carburizing,
cyaniding and nitriding.

Among the many other possible applications
are annealing of gold and copper alloys, heat treatment and brazing of
aluminum alloys, descaling of stainless steel, de-enameling of porcelain
enamel ware, stripping plastic from plastic molding and extrusion dies
and melting of soft metals. The Model AL Pot Furnaces are truly real "workhorses".
Trays.
Features:
-
Clean, safe, quiet operation and best possible working
conditions result from use of the electric heat
-
Uniform pot heating without hot spots is assured by the
carefully engineered heating elements and furnace chamber
-
High temperature uniformity and repetitive quality heat
treating is produced by rapid conductive and convective heat transfer in
the liquid bath
-
Quick temperature recovery and maximum production is provided
by the ample power rating
-
Trouble free operation results from the heavy industrial
construction
-
Long life heavy weight nickel chromium heating elements
are designed to permit quick, simple replacement
-
Maximum thermal efficiency and long life are assured by
the high grade insulation that is used throughout
-
Economy during the furnace idling period is provided by
a highly insulated, lightweight, lift-off cover
-
The heating elements are protected and a means is provided
to clear the chamber of molten salt or lead by tapering the furnace floor
to a bottom drain hole.
Standard Equipment:
The Size O Model AL Furnace utilizes a helical wound nickel chromium heavy
gauge wire heating element hanging vertically on insulators on an alloy frame.
Sinuous wound nickel chromium ribbon Heating Elements operating on 191 Volts,
hang from the sidewalls of the chamber in the Size 1 and 2 Furnaces. A separately
mounted auto type transformer to permit direct connection to a 220 Volts, 60
Cycles, Single Phase supply is standard equipment.
The Size 3 uses three separate sinuous wound ribbon elements which are Y connected
for direct operation on a 220 volts 3-phase supply.
In Model AL Furnaces, the temperature is controlled by a thermocouple in the
liquid bath. These furnaces are drilled to accept a second thermocouple in
the heating chamber. A dual control arrangement is recommended.
Optional Equipment:
Optional equipment includes all types and makes of automatic temperature
control equipment. On-off type control utilizing a magnetic contactor is
suitable for most applications. Use of a current input regulator is desirable
to limit the rate of melting of frozen baths and improve control at low operating
temperatures. Transformers are required for connection to alternate voltage
power supplies.
Custom Designs:
Pots are available in various shapes of formed,
fabricated and cast materials. Special pot coatings are also available and
the user should consult Sentry regarding their specific application.

Model AV High Temperature
Tube Furnaces

Model AV furnaces are low cost, high efficiency
designs which incorporate all the desirable advantages of high
temperature single tube laboratory units. Model AV furnaces are insulated
for continuous operation to 1400° C and intermittent service to 1500° C.
The furnace tubes are designed for simple connection with standard
fittings to atmosphere or vacuum systems.
Features:
- Rugged steel shell lined with finest high temperature, low
mass materials.
- Silicon Carbide heating elements for fast heating.
- Larger furnaces, size 10AV and up, are designed with a special
heating element arrangement. Two elements are paralleling the
and two elements are crosswise to the tube. This creates a
longer useful zone of temperature uniformity and helps compensate
for heat losses from the tube openings.
- All furnaces are 220 Volts, single phase with the exception
of the 2AV furnace which is 110 Volts, single phase.
